In addition to famous Black Kow® composted cow manure, Black Gold Compost Company also produces other specialty soils and growing media. Ask for them at your favorite discount chain store or independent garden/nursery retailer.
Mushroom compost is not made from ground up mushrooms as you might think. It's the soil used to grow mushrooms. Since mushrooms are such a delicate crop, the soil is used only once. Then we compost and bag it for home gardeners. This rich, soil-building medium is perfect for vegetable and flower gardens, hanging baskets, shrubs and trees. Mix it with your planting soil or native soil or as a top-dressing on potted plants of all types. (Not available in all areas.)
It's rich in nitrogen-releasing bacteria and feeds your plants slowly while building the soil with organic material. It is naturally composted. This is an all natural organic fertilizer made from poultry farm manure. Black Hen chicken manure has a 2-3-2 analysis and feeds your plants slowly as nutrients are needed. We suggest mixing Black Hen chicken manure with Black Kow cow manure for flower beds and vegetable gardens. (Not available in all areas.)
This is an excellent general purpose soil for use in preparing flower beds, vegetable gardens, setting trees and shrubs and indoor or outdoor planter boxes. It provides constant long-lasting feeding for plants and excellent moisture retention. It's a loose, friable soil to allow root penetration. Nothing to mix. It's ready to use right out of the bag. (Not available in all areas.)
Our topsoil is a naturally occurring blend of organic material from our Florida peat deposit. It's great for top-dressing entire lawns or just fixing bare spots. Mix with Black Kow® cow manure for planting trees and shrubs. (Not available in all areas.)
Black Kow® Peat is our newest product and is currently only available in Texas and Oklahoma. This unique, organic product is made from dairy manure that is literally “washed” using a patented process. Though it is a peat-style replacement and has the same initial qualities (water retention, loft, appearance, etc.) this product is not a preservative like peat, but actually promotes a healthy soil substructure. Also, unlike other peat products, Black Kow Peat has nutrient value. These nutrients are non-soluble and don’t wash away upon watering but are slowly released as the material naturally breaks down.
